So much so, Jenna wa tempted to turn to ab lounge workouts, or some other "late night" stomach toner.

Well don't you be. Even if your choice is a fast loss of weight or a different swim suit, those ab machines won't do you much good. Because targeted spot reduction, like say your waistline, is simply not easily accomplished. So X that off your list of potential ab exercises for women.


But what was making Jenna nervous is she believes that to lose fat you gotta sweat. Over time. You see, abs are relatively small muscles compared to the energy hungry glut, thigh, and back muscle groups. Which means even if you do hundreds of crunches a day, those abdominals are only going to burn up a small bit of fat. Sure your underlying tummy muscles will be tone up. Be buff even. Underneath a layer of fat however.

So if, like many women, you're doing ab exercises to lose belly fat, that won't get you there.

You have to combine those with the right cardio workout for fat burning and eating better.

Walking is a wonderful cardio workout for beginers. Who want to manage their weight and get in better shape. But mixing in more intense cardio workout programs like aerobics, power walking, or step aerobic exercises are better still.

So there is no one exercise to lose belly fat. You have to burn the fat no matter where it's stored. Stick with it and eventually you'll be able to show off sculpted abs too.
