Beyond the Obvious: The Benefits of Step Aerobics
Wondering What Are the Benefits of Aerobics?
Almost from the first minute in aerobics class Faith Bugher, a minister's wife who took that body as a temple stuff seriously, could see a difference.
|
"Someone at church asked me what are the benefits of aerobics? Not to be hateful or anything," she said, "but at first I was shocked. There are so many. How could they not know?"
"Besides, the benefits of step aerobics just begin with conditioning your heart and lungs," she said trying to catch her breath. "If you're looking to lose weight it's wise to combine cutting calories with burning calories. And there is no better way to burn calories than a cardio workout."
|
I also like the health benefits of water aerobics. And since that class is held in water, it's easier on your joints. So those with bad knees, who may not be able to do step aerobics, can still get in on the water aerobics benefits. My friend Lucy really likes them too. She never misses a class."
She continued, "so say someone wanted to drop a pound a week. They'd just need to eliminate 3500 calories either through their workout or diet."
"But I'd suggest that instead of looking at it as 3500 calories a week - let's narrow that down to 500 per day. Smaller number. Seems easier?"
"Just eliminate 500 calories a day, by sticking to a low fat diet with exercise means you will lose about a pound of fat each week."
"Sorry," she apologized with a smile. "Got off the track," Faith said rather sheepishly. "But I'd say there are plenty of health benefits of step aerobics or water aerobics to go around."
