Can You Really Burn Calories Jumping Rope?
Jump Rope Workout - The Ultimate in Easy Exercise Routines
For the most part Gina Howden didn't need to focus on diet to stay within a pound or two of what she weighed the day she graduated high school.
|
That's because the perky 20 something, with the pixie hair cut, had several easy exercise routines she followed faithfully.
For one she liked to burn calories jumping rope.
"How many calories does rope jumping burn?" Howden asked, repeating the question. "In 20 minutes you'll likely burn off somewhere between 225 to 250 calories. Which isn't bad."
|
"Which is also why I just love jumping rope for exercise! I find it to be one of the best workout routines I do because it really works!"
"To help pass the time I TiVO the previous nights Sex in the City rerun," Gina reported. "Nothing too mentally challenging you know? Carrie Bradshaw's problems with lack of available men in NYC are pretty mindless. But it's better than trying to entertain myself."
She went on to add, "Aside from the fact this is a great womens aerobic workout a jump rope work out also stimulates bone growth? Which can't hurt as we get older."
"When it comes to jump rope safety tips let me share this one," Gina suggested. "The big thing to remember is to land softly. Landing on the balls of your feet. (A good workout shoe helps too) In other words you don't want to sound like the Jolly Green Giant plopping down with a thud each time you land."
So if you're looking for easy exercise routines that burn calories, jumping rope should be one of the first ones you seriously consider.
