What a Kickboxing Cardio Workout Is All About

Alyssa Abrams certainly got over any qualms she had about the rigors of a kickboxing cardio workout. There she was. Part of the gang kicking up a storm. All convinced that participating in a female kickboxing classes was the best cardio work out to lose weight.


For Alyssa the proof was in the drop of dress sizes. Which she attributes not only to her hard work but being much choosier about what she eats. Fast food, in fact eating out, was off the list of options.

Now the caloric burn of your typical cardio-kickboxing class is roughly equivalent to an hour of brisk walking.

Yet not only do you burn fat, you increase your flexibility too.

You also improve your overall cardiovascular fitness.

Not to mention all those kick moves improve your balance, help with coordination and sharpen your reflexes.

Of course in addition to all those "kick boxing moves" expect some traditional exercises too. Things like jumping jacks, ab crunches, leg lifts and push ups? All designed to give you an excellent total body workout.

There is a downside however. Especially for beginners. That is risk of joint injury if you use incorrect form.

To avoid that don't overextend your kicks.

And when you get tired, stop. Don't push your body beyond normal fatigue.

Also consider participation carefully if you've got any issues with your knees, hips or ankles.

Then too while it's easier said than done, being in a group setting and all, don't let any perceived peer pressured cause you to punch as fast or kick as high as others in the class. Especially if you're new and a novice.

Still if you're looking for an aerobic workout, consider a female kickboxing cardio workout class. It may just be a great way for you to downsize.
