How Fat Are You Anyway?
Defining Your Ideal Body Fat Percentage
For months, Doreen procrastinated. After countless times of plopping on her bed to zip her jeans she finally decided enough was enough. Those pudgy rolls that spilt over her waistband had to go.
|
Having made that decision Doreen was curious about just how much fat she was carrying around. She had read in Cosmo or somewhere something about your ideal body fat percentage. "But just what does your body fat percentage mean?" she asked Lisa on the cell one morning.
Facing up to exactly how many pounds of fat we're lugging around can be a real eye opener.
When it comes to a definition of percent body fat, the National Institutes of Health has weighed in. They feel more than 36 percent body fat for women or more than 25 percent for men is a bad sign. Or a risk factor as those in white coats at the NIH put it.
|
Besides, too much fat opens you up to a scads of diseases. So body consciousness aside, better health is the real reason to aim to get closer to your ideal body fat percentage.
Which was enough for Doreen. In her case, a rigorous kickboxing cardio workout started her on the road to banishing her unsightly belly bloat. That and other fat burning exercises helped reduce her body-fat levels and gave her a new self confidence.
Think maybe it's time you took a second look at some fat burning workouts for women?
