Effective Abdominal Exercise Routines

It's a good thing there's no tax on the repetitions one does with any decent lower ab workouts. Otherwise Maggie Ionno, a 35 year old tax accountant, might not be in the shape she is today. Since along with being somewhat of a fitness fanatic you could say she has tax avoidance on the brain.


"Sometime the lower stomach exercise routine I do is annoying as all get out, Ionno admitted. "But it certainly is effective. Especially when you consider all I do all day long is put numbers in little boxes."

"And while I by no means have a corner on the market of the best ab workouts for women, I believe the abdominal exercise routines I do work nicely for me."

One of the lower ab excercises Maggie did was something she referred to as the hip thruster. Sounds almost dirty I know but that's what she called it.

• All you do is lie on the floor on your back.
• Spread your arms a bit for balance.
• Lift your legs from the waist until they are
    just about perpendicular to the ground.
    At that point lift your hips and glutes.
    Thrusting your legs into the sky.
• See yourself touching the ceiling with your toes.
• Then lower your hips - keeping your legs up.

Repeat to the point of fatigue.

"Keep in mind," Maggie added, "that your abs are some of the strongest muscles in your bod. To have an impact you almost have to work them to the point of overwork. That would be what jocks call the burn!"

So zero in on your lower ab workouts if you want a minimal, not maximal, belly.
