The Law of Cause and Affect As It Applies to Cellulite

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, the causes of cellulite come down to aging, genetics and the natural process of muscle turning to fat.


But did you notice? There's not a whole lot you can do about two of those?

Of course getting right down to it, accumulated fat is really the primary cause of cellulite. Regardless of the source. Combine that with loose connective tissue and what do you expect?

You see, our skin consists of layers. The "corium" lies just below the surface. Just below that is what's called "subcutaneous tissue". Another way of describing that would be fat storage units. As the fat accumulates, at some point it starts to strain against the skin.

Exceed the ability of your skin to contain the fat, and the dimples we've all come to dread appear. Making your thighs look like a lunar relief map.

Aging, as mentioned before is another contributor. As our metabolism slows with age, unless we reduce our calorie intake, the fat builds up. Fat is not as compact as muscle. Again think of fat straining against the connective tissues until it breaks through.

As for other causes, think excessive sun exposure (affects the skin), a sedentary life style (lack of muscle tone), stress, improper lymph system drainage, preservative laden foods and dieting.

While the jury is out on whether bread and carbonated beverages cause cellulite. But most likely that may be more myth than fact.

So while I can offer you no surefire cures, exercise, watching what you eat, and for temporary relief cellulite creams are the most effective way to try to modify or minimize the appearance of any cellulite you do have.
